How to properly sell a property management company depends on the size.
Today I’m here to talk to you about how to sell a property management company. Know that I'm not an attorney, and I would recommend seeing one. Also, know that not all property management companies are the same.
If you're looking to sell a portfolio of homes that’s anywhere between three and 25 properties, you might consider just talking to a few folks and seeing what they would be willing to accept. If you have 25 to 100 properties, I would recommend trying to find a specialized attorney and talking to them, as well as other experts in the business.
"Not all property management companies are the same."
If your portfolio is anywhere between 100 and 300 properties, I would go to a business broker, an attorney, and your CPA. Plus, you could talk to other people who have gone through this. In addition, there are classes that you can take, so look around for those.
Any bigger than 300, and you need to start talking to a consultant. I can recommend some to you. The more people that you get involved with, the more fees you might accrue. However, the fewer people that get involved, the less knowledge you'll have.
Therefore, there are a lot of different avenues you can go, just make sure to ask for help. If you have questions about anything related to property management, contact me anytime; I would love to help.
