The truth about the “messy middle” of working in property management.
What’s the “messy middle” for property management? This is a problem I see a lot when other Realtors start property management companies, so today, I want to explain what this is and how you can get out of it.
The messy middle is essentially when you have too many roles you need to fill. Not only might someone be a full-time Realtor, but they could also be head of a property management company and perhaps more.
"Property management is a lot different from real estate sales."
When people find themselves in this situation, there are a few things to keep in mind. You need to be organized and have tough conversations, get your finances in order, and be able to do a little bit of sales.
In my opinion, to be successful in a mid-sized market in the U.S. like San Antonio, you need to get about 50 to 70 doors signed up for your business before hiring another person to help you out. For example, you might be able to outsource a bit of your financial organization at this point.
The truth is that property management is a lot different from real estate sales. If you want advice on how to get out of the messy middle or are interested in selling your property management company, please give us a call. We’d love to help you out.
